The Cherry blossoms have started blooming in Tokyo and today is Easter Sunday. Spring is officially here.
Not that there’s much difference when you live in a tropical country but hey, it’s nice to pretend sometimes that the small drop of temperature means it’s spring before the scorching summer.
I don’t really have a favorite spring song because songs have no season for me. But I came across this clip again from YHY Sketchbook of Yonghwa singing Spring Breeze with legendary Korean singer Lee Moon Sae.
I loved the song the first time I heard it and I love it even more now because it really is perfect for spring. It features Naul of Brown Eyed Soul band.
The official video has a comedic twist in the end:
Don’t be fooled by the, uh, breezy tune of the song because its lyrics are melancholic, about a past love.
Lilacs fill up every street and the tip of my nose tingles
Couples smile like the sunshine,
it’s a dazzling day
Is it because of the sunlight?
Waves of heat in the sky
I close my eyes and without knowing, I remember
Like the spring breeze
you make me shake like flower petals
Though I can’t go back to the past like a dream
Like the spring breeze,
you make my heart beat again
You are always like spring to me
With just one glance,
I can see those couples are just starting, it makes me laugh
Were we like them back then? I try to remember
Yes, it was just all good,
so good that it’ll never come back
But it’s all in the past, I’m just smiling now
Like the spring breeze
you make me shake like flower petals
Though I can’t go back to the past like a dream
Like the spring breeze,
you make my heart beat again
You are always like spring to me
Like the seasons coming back, you come to me
That moment that seemed like it’ll last forever
Seems like only yesterday
Like the spring breeze
you make me shake like flower petals
Though I can’t go back to the past like a dream
Like the spring breeze,
days softly grow farther away
And suddenly, it’s a dazzling spring again
Like the spring breeze,
days softly grow farther away
And suddenly, it’s a dazzling spring again
