My #songs2016 folder is growing and new additions are a Bollywood song and a J-pop tune used for a commercial.
Yeh Ishq Hai was used in the engagement scene in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The other Bollywood song in the movie, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, had more screen time and was even performed at the grand premiere in London that was attended by no less than Charles and Camilla. But I like Yeh Ishq Hai better. It was the theme from the 2007 movie Jab We Met that starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. There’s something about Bollywood songs that would make you tilt your head and dance it’s addicting. I don’t wonder anymore why they would suddenly break out into a song in the middle of a movie XD. Although in TSBEMH, they were careful to incorporate it into the plot and did not turn it into some random, whimsical dance production although it would have been a sight if Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith suddenly broke out into a dance while arguing with Sonnyboy.
AI‘s みんながみんな英雄 (Everyone is Everyone’s Hero) is also a boppy song but has some folk element to it that it was even performed as a folk dance (as shown on Music Station when AI guested in the February 26 episode with Arashi and TOKIO). The song is being used for the currently airing au cm that stars Kiritani Kenta, Matsuda Shota, Hamada Gaku, Suda Masaki, Arimura Kasumi and Nanao (yes, thee of the rolling onigiri fame). au really produces these strange cms that are nevertheless entertaining (I loved those Arashi au cms before!). More on the new au cm here that features the cast in period costumes. The other song, Umi no Koe–performed by Kiritani Kenta–was included in the fourth edition of earfun.
Previous earfun, kiitekudasai: 1, 2, 3, 4.
