It’s been some time since I’ve updated this corner. Not to say I haven’t discovered any new music along the way.
Earlier this month, I watched Music Station when Kiritani Kenta performed Umi no Koe, which he sings for those au commercials with Matsuda Shota, Hamada Gaku and Arimura Kasumi. It’s a very soulful ballad that would seem out of place in what looks like a typical whimsical au commercial but, strangely, it works.
In that same MSta episode, they showed some artistes who were famous in the 1990s, including the punk rock band Judy and Mary. Their Overdrive is quite a familiar tune I’ve heard it before sung by other artistes. The band had several members throughout the years.
Finally, a throwback to the 1980s Cantopop: Andy Lau’s Forget Love Potion, which was used in the Taiwanese film, Our Times. This song reminds me so much of my early foray into Asian pop. I went through a Cantopop phase in 2001 from Andy Lau to Faye Wong.
Previous earfun, kiitekudasai: 1, 2, 3.
No music, no life.

Woah! Judy and Mary! I knew them because of Rurouni Kenshin! lol. I gotta to be honest with you. I use the songs in this corner of yours for my choukai practice. Because I’ve never listened to most of these songs before, even though I know the bands or singers.
So, thanks for sharing this! 😀
