There has to be a rule in dramaland: ugly actors should not be made to cry.

Of course in reality, who looks good while crying?

But we’re talking here of onscreen fantasy. Can we keep that fantasy?

They should also not be made to wear costumes that enhance their unflattering features.

Or cut their hair to further emphasize those unflattering features.

But there’s hope yet. Lee Byung-hun is not exactly a pleasant sight to watch in his onscreen dramatic highlights, but look, he made it to Hollywood.
