I love pandas. I mean, who doesn’t?
Some people say they’re useless (not doing anything but sleep or eat bamboos all day) but I beg to disagree. They’re a stressreliever through what my friends and I call panda therapy.
There are a few channels on YouTube that are devoted to pandas from Chengdu in China or Wakayama in Japan, among other places, like mrpenta, Chengdu PAW and pandakanwebmaster. (Please don’t show me a fake panda video or any of those Never Say No to a Panda commercial; not cute.)
Now, in Singapore, there’s a big hoo-hah about the arrival of pandas from Chengdu as part of China’s panda diplomacy. The pandas, Kai Kai and Jia Jia, will be on loan for 10 years.
Pandas all look the same but they do have distinguish marks and different personalities. How to tell Kai Kai and Jia Jia apart (graphics from @ChannelNewsAsia on Twitter):
And just look at Kai Kai, isn’t he ke ai (photo from The Straits Times)?
My dream is to be able to go to the Chengdu panda base and hug a panda. They just look so adorable. And in my next life, I want to be a pandakeeper. Their job is so cool!
