It’s turning out to be one very star-studded night at the Golden Horse Awards–the so-called Chinese Oscars–on November 26, that is if the nominees show up.
Consider this: Andy vs Eddie, Shu Qi vs Deanie.
Andy Lau is nominated for best actor for A Simple Life together with his co-star Deanie Yip who won best actress at the Venice Film Festival earlier. Eddie Peng is also nominated for best actor for JUMP Ashin! while Shu Qi, who interestingly was linked to him before, is up for best actress for the Andrew Lau-directed tearjerker A Beautiful Life.

Other notable nominees are Michelle Chen for best actress and Giddens Ko for best new director for this year’s biggest Taiwan film You Are The Apple Of My Eye. Carina Lau is also nominated for best supporting actress for Let The Bullets Fly.
