Twitter news have it that the sequel to Summer Holiday (2000)…

that starred Sammi Cheng and Richie Ren…

is now known as Love You You (previously Long Happy Summer Day) and stars Eddie Peng and Angelababy.

Summer Holiday is one of my all-time favorite movies. Whenever the summer heat gets blinding and unbearable, I always have the urge to watch this movie (another movie that makes me do this is Japan’s Summer Time Machine Blues).

I love the film’s location so much so I am still dreaming of going to Terengganu one day and stay at More More Tea.

I also love the soundtrack. One of the songs from the film:

Interestingly, one of the support cast, Ah Niu, has become famous and even made a successful “small film” called Ice Kacang Puppy Love.

Earlier reports said that Sammi and Richie were up for the sequel but there must have been conflict in the schedules so we end up with Eddie Peng and Angelababy.

Eddie is just fresh from his Jump Ashin! success and his six-pack abs will surely have extended exposure in this new film.

But it would be strange to have different actors in the sequel… because the implication is, it would be a continuation of the original story. If it isn’t, then it shouldn’t even be called a sequel because that would only be misleading.
