I’ve been seeing this on my Facebook timeline for a few days now but I never bothered to click thinking it’s just one of those things again.
But tonight, I’m glad I did.
Choi Sung-bong, you’re my new inspiration, my new hero!

Choi Sung-bong: an inspiration for those who have so much but goes through little difficulties and would give up on their dream.
It makes me cringe to think that for so little reason, we complain and give up on something. But this guy, he was sold at a young age, lived in an orphanage, escaped it because of physical abuse, lived on the streets, did manual labor… but he never gave up one one thing he truly loves: singing.
I mean, how many of us have something we love to do but because of obstacles that are nothing compared to what Sung-bo had been through, we just turn our backs on our dreams?
Watch him touch Korea’s Got Talent audience and judges here (with English subtitles):
I’m just struck at how he seemed detached from it all. Perhaps it’s unbelievable for him to be received that way? Or maybe he just doesn’t know how to express happiness after what he’s been through? As one of the judges said, I want to give him a hug and more importantly, I want to see him happy!
The next time you think of giving up on your dream, think of Choi Sung-bo.
Go for your dreams!
